Radium Girls
James Clemens High School – fall 2017
I designed this set for the Trumbauer one act competition in my senior year of high school. Because of the time and space limits of the competition, this set has a lot of versatility. I designed it in a way that could consistently fill any stage without feeling too cramped or spread out, and I made sure that every set piece was necessary to the plot. I designed a minimal set that didn’t feel minimal.
First ideas/models 
Beginning platforms for side pyramids 
I used foam to fill the cracks on the corners to make the dutching easier and cleaner. 
I used a dry brush paint treatment of four colors to construct the bricks on each pyramid, and each side pyramid has four strings of fairy lights that have a twinkle setting. These gave each scene with Pharroh a glamorous, Vegas feel.

Door attached with spring loaded hinges to assure the door closes. I also put foam opposite of the hinges to reduce the noise.
